Our Vission

A plastic-free future: Uniting eco-conscious individuals and organizations worldwide to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for generations to come.

Our Mission

At Zero Plastic Movement, we are dedicated to empowering individuals through education and action, envisioning a world free from plastic pollution. Our innovative club system fosters sustainable communities, creating a collective force that actively reduces plastic usage and champions eco-friendly alternatives.

Welcome Message from Our Founder

As the founder of the ZeroPlastic Movement, I am proud to announce that we are Sri Lanka’s largest environmental initiative dedicated to combating plastic pollution. Our mission is to promote sustainability through education, community engagement, and support for local industries producing plastic alternatives. Our ZeroPlastic Club network, present in all Sri Lankan universities, empowers students to adopt eco-friendly practices and take action against plastic waste. With over 100,000 volunteers, we aim to reduce single-use plastics, raise awareness, and foster a culture of environmental stewardship.

The ZeroPlastic Club at the University of Kelaniya, established in early 2021, is one of our most active clubs. With strong leadership and enthusiastic volunteers, it has made significant contributions to our mission. The support from university management, including the Vice Chancellor, has been invaluable. I wish the Kelaniya team continued success in their efforts to protect the environment and nurture future leaders.

What is Zero Plastic Movement of University of Kelaniya

Zero Plastic Movement of the University of Kelaniya is one of the significant university branches of the Zero Plastic Movement, Sri Lanka. The club is sheltered under the constant guidance and assistance of the Zero Plastic movement.

Despite being new to the university unlike the other professional grooming clubs, ZPM UOK possesses hundreds of smart and skillful individuals. The club aims at conquering plastic used throughout the island and thus it is based on pure volunteerism. The club further encourages the undergraduates, who are going to be future leaders, to feel for the environment surrounding us genuinely. It is a part of the youth movement full of passion and dedication.

It is worth mentioning that ZPM UOK outshines as a purely voluntary organization effectuating more than 20 environmental cleanup programs and awareness sessions annually. Through its modest vision and noble mission, the club inevitably produces experienced and empathetic souls to lead the future.
